The Department of Hisory of Diaspora affiliated to the Institute of Research was created according resolution of Academic Council dated February 24, 2006 as well as subsequent Rector’s decree.

Lubomyr Vynar, a famous Ukrainian historian, the president of Ukrainian Historical Society, the head of the World Congress of Ukrainians, the head of Historical Section UVAN in the USA, the president of Ukrainian American Association of University Professors was appointed an Honorary Professor and Honorary Head of the Department.

Alla Atamanenko, a senior lecturer, the director of the Institute of Ukrainian Diaspora Research at the NaUOA was appointed the Head of the Department.

Official inauguration of the Department took place on the of October 12 in the conference hall of the University Academic Council.
